my major project

I would like to design my own art gallery as my major project. That is caused of my love towards art. I enjoy spending time in museum and I still remember my feeling when I was first time in Centre Georges Pompidou, which is gallery of modern art in Paris. Not only exhibition (Max Ernst’s painting!!) but also the building itself knock me out. My favourite direction in art is conceptualise, hence I admire the idea for this building. The pipes outside the building may be perceived as ridiculous, but thanks to them the building seems to look like a factory. If you remember that it is a gallery of modern art, and the art of the twentieth century lost its unique character (I mean it become massive, everyone could become an artist), and it has turned into a product! Not everyone consider architecture as great as painting and sculpture, but I want prove them that architecture can be in incredible too!

The quality, which will be stood my gallery out, is a remarkable sharp. I am inspired do something similar like Joshua Tree Residence by James Whitaker.

My project will have one main part from where will be various corridors going out. I mean different corridors on different floors, like on the picture above. However, in my project the corridors will have a cone shape. Moreover, my gallery will be made with metal materials, maybe copper but I am not sure yet.
I’m planning to make an underground enters like there is in Louvre.

This way I want to avoid queues in building space. Windows will be like in Jewish Museum Berlin designed by Daniel Libeskind, what is mean that I want make irregular, random gaps in walls.

I still have not found proper space to put there my project. I am looking for some old-fashionary place, because I like contrast between classical and modern art. Something like it is around  Szczecin Philharmonic.

I hope you enjoy ;-)

  1. Great initial research post that clearly links to your project development and you have some good commentary on each of the buildings shown. I look forward to seeing further research into materials and architects.
